Public Service Recognition Week

Sharing is caring!

Every year, the first week of May transforms into a heartfelt tribute to the heartbeat of our nation: public servants. From May 4 – 10, 2025, Public Service Recognition Week (PSRW) will celebrate the 20 million federal, state, local, and tribal government workers who keep our communities thriving. These are the postal workers delivering packages, the teachers educating the future, and the first responders risking their lives. Organized by the Partnership for Public Service and the Public Employees Roundtable, PSRW is a chance to say thank you. But this year, our gratitude needs to go deeper—civil servants need our support like never before.

The Government Success Database highlights hundreds of career civil servants who have made significant contributions to our country. From protecting public health and defending our national security to addressing climate change and supporting our economic well-being, their achievements showcase the vital importance of our government and the nonpartisan civil service to the public good.

Additional achievements include paperless initiatives that streamline communication, infrastructure improvements, cybersecurity, and even redirecting asteroids to avoid Earth impact. These unsung heroes won’t be found in the headlines, but we all benefit from their hard work without even knowing it.

So, how can we support them? Start small: join the #ISupportFeds campaign to share stories of public servants who’ve touched your life. Maybe it’s the park ranger who made your family’s camping trip unforgettable or the VA nurse who cared for your grandparent. Attend a PSRW event — think local award ceremonies or community picnics — or write a thank-you note. Check out the Partnership’s FedSupport hub or tune into their “Profiles in Public Service” podcast for inspiration.

PSRW 2025 isn’t just a week to clap for civil servants; it’s a call to stand with them. They’ve carried us through crises and kept our communities humming. Let’s ensure they have the support to keep going. After all, a strong civil service isn’t just a workforce; it’s the backbone of our democracy.
