Sharing is caring!

Federal employees enrolled in the 2024 Federal Flexible Spending Account Program (FSAFEDS) must submit all health care and dependent care claims to HealthEquity, Inc., the program administrator, by April 30, 2025. Claims received after this deadline will not be eligible for reimbursement. Now is the time to review your account and ensure all 2024 expenses are claimed to maximize your benefits.

Health Care FSA (HCFSA) and Limited Expense Health Care FSA (LEXHCFSA) Carryover
You may carry over up to $640 of unused 2024 HCFSA or LEXHCFSA funds into 2025 if you meet these conditions:

  • Maintain an active HCFSA/LEXHCFSA account as of December 31, 2024.
  • Re-enroll in an HCFSA or LEXHCFSA during the 2024 Open Season (November 11–December 9, 2024).

Employees who did not re-enroll forfeited any remaining funds on December 31, 2024. All 2024 claims must be submitted by April 30, 2025, with carried-over funds available in late May 2025 after processing.

Dependent Care FSA (DCFSA) Claims
Eligible 2024 DCFSA expenses must have been incurred between January 1, 2024, and March 15, 2025. Submit all claims by April 30, 2025, to receive reimbursement.

Tips for Filing 2024 Claims
Verify Claims: Log in to www.fsafeds.com to review your account. Compare 2024 receipts with processed payments to identify missing claims.

Go Paperless: For HCFSA/LEXHCFSA, select and schedule eligible expenses for automatic payment to simplify the process.

FSAFEDS Enrollees Leaving Federal Service
If you’re enrolled in 2025 FSAFEDS (HCFSA, LEXHCFSA, or DCFSA) and plan to retire or leave federal service in 2025, use all allocated funds before your departure. Any unused funds will be forfeited upon leaving.

  • HCFSA/LEXHCFSA: You can request an advance from HealthEquity for medical, dental, or vision expenses, even if the full amount hasn’t been deducted from your salary. HealthEquity will advance the difference, recovering it through future payroll deductions.
  • DCFSA: You must pay qualified dependent care expenses upfront and submit receipts to HealthEquity for reimbursement.

Act Before the Deadline
Don’t miss the April 30, 2025, deadline to submit 2024 claims. Check your FSAFEDS account, file claims promptly, and plan carefully if leaving federal service. Contact HealthEquity at www.fsafeds.com with any questions.
